Guy Kawasaki

Guy was the chief evangelist of Apple and is the author of ten books including Enchantment, Reality Check and The Art of the Start. He’s also the co-founder of Alltop.com which is what he calls an “online magazine rack”, essentially a hub for awesome blogs and their latest content separated by category. Guy blogs in the Holy Kaw section of Alltop and is known to do a lot of micro blogging on Google Plus.

Wil Schroter

I am excited to announce that the Ohio Growth Summit 2013 Call For Speakers is officially open.

For the past eight years we have identified the best and smartest speakers to share their experiences in growing small businesses. We are looking for presenters for the breakout workshops, which are critical piece to the success of the Ohio Growth Summit.

Breakout sessions are what connect the dots and complement our keynote speakers (check out our welcome video to learn more about our keynotes for 2013).  It’s the diversity of topics and speakers in these sessions that allow the attendees to truly customize the experience to their needs. In the past, I have hand-picked the speakers. This year I am opening up the opportunity to speak at OGS to experienced and talented business experts who can provide great value to our attendees, something they come to expect from our reputation for stellar business development presenters.

We will be accepting proposals to speak in areas that are important to the development of small business. Topics that would fit the audience of the Ohio Growth Summit are:

Now, before you submit you should keep a few things in mind:

1. All presentations will take place June 6, 2013. We need you to be flexible with that day and will not be able to accommodate specific time frame requests.
2. Our call for speakers ends April 5, 2013. Selected presenters will be notified by April 22.
3. We like brevity. We know you have a lot to say about yourself but let’s keep your proposal tight. We need to know what the main takeaway of the presentation will be for our attendees and the most important points of how you’re going to get there. No fluff please. If we feel we need more information we’ll ask.
4. Sales and product pitches are not allowed in sessions.
5. Speakers at the Ohio Growth Summit will receive free admission to the event, however no travel expenses will be paid by the Ohio Growth Summit. Speakers will also be highlighted on www.OhioGrowthSummit.com, through our marketing and social media channels and in the event program.
6. Speakers will be expected to participate in the marketing of the event through their own networks, including but not limited to social updates and a video introduction blog post about what the attendees can expect from your session. Specific details of how you can help market will be provided upon selection.
7. Panels will be considered if they should apply but may not consist of more than three panelists + one moderator. Absolutely no exceptions. Please make sure that all panelists names and email are on the proposal and that everyone involved has given the okay before you submit. The panel will not be selected if one or more individual was not clear on deadlines and responsibilities of speakers as mentioned above.

First of all as the Founder and Director I want to welcome you to the ninth annual Ohio Growth Summit.  When I started the Ohio Growth Summit in 2005 I committed to give you, the small business owner, your own conference. I wanted the Summit to celebrate you and all you do to grow businesses and jobs in what has been a tough economy. For the past eight years we have brought in top notch national speakers like Guy Kawasaki, Gini Dietrich, Chris Brogan and Carrie Wilkerson to go along with over 100 local and regional business experts. Each year a tremendous amount of time and effort goes into developing, producing and delivering the Ohio Growth Summit. It is a tough job but we have a team that shares my vision and is committed to providing the best experience and content to those of you attending the event.

So after eight years of producing the Ohio Growth Summit what can I say about the event? Let’s do it again…Only Better!

While we did not know each other for very long Denai was an inspiration to me. I had hoped to build out Ideas2Deals the way she had built out many of her on-line properties. I feel that Denai would have been a great addition to the 2012 Ohio Growth Summit both in assisting people build an on-line presence and to help them improve their on-line and off-line networking.

Denai was a person of great faith which has helped with the grieving process but we will always have a void left by Denai’s absence. Denai left behind her husband Tim and a young daughter along with countless friends and associates she had touched during her all to brief life.

One of Denai’s profiles reads “Do more. Be more. Achieve more. You are worth it!”. She lived that motto and truly made a difference.

While she won’t physically be with us on May 24 when I take the stage at the Ohio Growth Summit Denai will be there with me.

Registration and networking is from 7:00 am – 8:00 am.  Note…There will be food and coffee at the registration so come on out early and join us.

We will begin the program promptly at 8:00 am.

Where do you park your Aston Martin or Honda, whatever you drive?I have good news, parking is free! You can park in any Columbus State student or employee lot (meters will still be charged). Having said that if you arrive before the Summit starts you should have no problem finding a spot. If you decide to sleep in or watch that one extra episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle before you head out you will be competing with 30,000 students for parking. Take it from someone that has worked at Columbus State for six years avoid the rush and get there early.

You know that FREE parking thing I mentioned ~ To get that you will need to have a parking pass and display it on the dashboard of your car. Without that I can’t help you if you get a ticket. If you are pre-registered you will get an email with the parking pass but if you need to you can also download a parking pass by clicking here.

Make sure to park legally… sometimes we prefer the grassy hills or the end of rows that really aren’t spots but our police department – not so much.

Want Wi-Fi? Me too ~ Not a problem.

Each event program will contain a user name and password to access the wireless network. If for some reason you have problems connecting let them know at the registration table and they will assist you. Also, there are power outlets on the floor of the facility as well as the walls so you should be able to plug in.

Get Your Social Media On

Social Media is encouraged at the Ohio Growth Summit.  The Twitter Hashtag is #OGS12.  When you check in on FourSquare you can check in at “Ohio Growth Summit”.  Lastly, please leave lots of likes and comments on our Facebook page.   Don’t know what we are talking about, you will.

Finally, you know when I said the Ohio Growth Summit was over at 4:00, that’s not really true. Thanks to our friends at the Karcher Group we will be have an “Official” OGS Happy Hour immediately following the Summit. The Happy Hour will be at T Murray’s Bar & Kitchen, 560 S High St. Come hang with speakers and attendees for some casual networking.
